Commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) ICs fail rapidly when exposed to space radiation. In low Earth orbit (LEO) and geostationary orbits (GEO), silicon devices encounter Total Ionizing Dose (TID) and heavy-ion Single Event Effects (SEE).

To ensure 10+ year mission lifetimes, Qailash Labs deploys radiation-hardening-by-design (RHBD) methodologies:

  • Guard-Rings & Substrate Taps: Continuous guard rings around sensitive analog nodes to prevent parasitic thyristor latch-up (SEL).
  • Enclosed Layout Transistors (ELTs): Eliminating oxide leakage paths along edge channels under ionizing radiation.
  • Triple Modular Redundancy (TMR): Voting logic deployed across all internal digital state machines and configuration registers.
